Design and animation for an EIT Food brief.

July 2021

This was a brief I did during my time on Created Academy’s Motion Design Professional course.

The Brief

The brief was to rework an animated video (done by design studio Yoke) for EIT Food's new project, the EIT Food TrustTracker®.

The video was directed as a business-to-business breakdown of the features and benefits of this project. It needed to be concise, with simple but engaging visuals that highlight key points.

I was provided with a shorter version of the original voiceover and allowed to redesign the animation as I saw fit, while keeping to specific brand guidelines regarding fonts, colours, and logos.

My Approach

I chose to go with this stop-motion, papercraft inspired art direction as it was a style I hadn't yet practiced modelling and animating in in Cinema 4D.

I used various methods to create a sense of the small scale of my scenes; distortions and imperfections when modelling and texturing, familiar real world objects and materials for size comparison, and lower aperture to create more depth of field.

I also loved the idea of keeping the visible motion tracking stickers on the laptop screen to maintain a homemade feel to the video.

I took close inspiration from a series of animations I found done by IBM for achieving this overall look and feel.
